Hello, friends and neighbors. Its Kevin with Operation Handyman with another great tip. Today I’m gonna share some ways you can save energy on heating this winter.
Do you worry about rising utility bills with the recent cold weather? I know I sure do. There are many simple and effective ways to help offset high energy costs. Many projects can be done D.I.Y. if you’re handy.

ENERGY SAVING TIP #1

Did you know updating your thermostat to a programmable or smart thermostat can save you up 10-30% on energy bills when used correctly? The newest WiFi-enabled thermostats can even be controlled from your office on your smartphone. These upgrades can pay for themselves in a year of heating/cooling when used correctly.

ENERGY SAVING TIP #2

Do you have spare bedrooms or unused space? You can save money here too. If you have these areas in your home you can close the vents and the doors and avoid heating and cooling them when not in use.
This tip does not cost anything just close them off. The savings can be substantial.

ENERGY SAVING TIP #3

This tip is probably the biggest overall saving tip. Do you have drafty doors and windows? This is where most of our energy or bought air escapes. Are your windows old? Do they leak air? Do the latches work correctly? Do you have fog between the glass? Any of these issues can cost you money. How about your doors? Do you feel the wind blow inside when walking by? Do they shut properly and seal tight? You can add weather stripping and door sweeps or replace broken parts.

ENERGY TIP #4

Change your furnace filter! Experts recommend changing your furnace filter monthly. This isn’t going to save you 30% but it might extend the life of your furnace. It will definitely improve the indoor air quality in your home as well.
Now whether you’re comfortable with these projects (DIY) or you need a little help you will definitely see some savings over the next few years if you apply these tips. Whether you need to change your thermostat, close off unused rooms, add door sweeps, weatherstripping, replace broken doors and windows, upgrade to more energy-efficient ones, or just changing your furnace filter. It is recommended that you do so, it’s proven to save money.
If you find you do need help; We can do that too! Just call Operation Handyman today and you can have a more comfortable home. We hope you have found these tips helpful.
